Alex W. Bryant

I am a PhD student in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Tech. I previously attended UC Berkeley for a bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering.

My current research focuses on characterizing and simulating atomic structure and phase changes in exotic metal systems under extreme conditions to explain anomalous shock-hardening behaviors.

My areas of expertise include advanced structural characterization, metallic glasses, thin films, and experimental design.

I am interested in peer advocacy, science communication, and engineering solutions.

In my spare time, I love to try new coffees and beers, hike a new trail, tinker with my computer or new tech gadget, learn from podcasts, escape into a fantasy or sci-fi novel, or try my hand at amateur photography.
